Homemade ice gel pack

Ice gel packs come in handy in case of sore muscles and injuries. Fortunately, you can make one yourself using a Ziploc bag and some rubbing alcohol mixed with water. Having an ice gel pack in the freezer is always a good idea. Using one is as easy as treating a razor burn with after shave cream.

1. Conventional method
Make a 2:1 water to rubbing alcohol solution in a bowl. The alcohol doesn’t let the water freeze completely. Rubbing alcohol is available in any drug store nearby. Don’t make too much of the mixture. Add the solution to a Ziploc bag. You can pick the size of the bag according to your preferences. You can double bag, it won’t affect the effectiveness of the pack. Remove all the excess air before zipping. Use your hands or a vacuum sealer. Put in a refrigerator for 12 hours.

2. When you have no rubbing alcohol
Fill the Ziploc bag with a colorful dish soap (so that you don’t mistake it for edible things), the blue color looks cool. There are no amount restrictions, make it as bulky as you want, yet it will take longer to freeze. Put it in the freezer overnight. It should be semi-frozen when you use it.

3. How to apply an ice gel pack
Wrap the ice pack with a piece of cloth or a towel to prevent ice burns. Apply the wrapped pack onto the sore area for 20 to 30 minutes maximum. Don’t apply more than four times a day.

Numbness or burning when applying the ice gel pack is a sign to see your doctor. Moreover, major strain or soreness should be treated by the physician as well, the ice simply is not enough.

Urinary tract infections FAQ

Urinary tract infections occur suddenly and make your general condition extremely uncomfortable. Rushing to get rid of the infections which cause so many inconveniences is a good idea when you are aware of your actions. The misconceptions people have about UTIs lead to complications, which are definitely worse than shaving mistakes.

1. Should I seek professional medical treatment?
Yes, absolutely. Although mild UTIs may resolve spontaneously, you put yourself at a huge risk by letting off the issue. Contact your physician immediately in case you have a high temperature; if you are pregnant, or diabetic. A clear diagnosis determines the kind of bacteria which caused the problem; therefore, you will address the root of the issue.

2. Should I complete the course of antibiotics in case I feel better?
Symptoms may disappear after a few days, but it usually takes five or more days for the bacteria to die off. Generally, it takes longer for men, that’s why doctors tend to write a 7 to 14 days prescription for them, which is going to be 5 to 7 days for women.

3. Can I heal myself by drinking lots of water?
You will definitely remove more bacteria from the bladder and alleviate the symptoms; however, you won’t get rid of the infection completely. It is just a great addition to the treatment plan. You can drink cranberry juice to help yourself overcome the infection, but it is not a good idea in case you have a history of kidney infections. Blood-thinning drugs don’t get on well with the cranberry juice.

Finally, remember to stay away from irritants like alcohol, coffee, and citrus containing drinks. Maintain your urinary hygiene and take vitamin C supplements to decrease the colonizing process of the bacteria.

When it’s time to obtain a straight spine

An abnormally curved spine can be given from birth or occur due to improper posture and bad overall health. Thinking about straightening the spine is a sound idea. You know how vital the condition of your spine appears to be, and there are great posture maintenance methods, active life guidelines, and so on; however, once you are diagnosed an abnormality, you should also apply to some treatment methods.

1. Adjustment
All the listed methods are based on regular treatments or activities, so before we begin, you should think of the treatment as of conventional tasks like visiting a New York hair salon on a regular basis. The chiropractic method of adjustment uses certain physical manipulations performed to both realign and unjam the facet joints in your spine. This method is not useful in case of scoliosis. It is mostly efficient in case of traumas. The discomfort is insignificant, and you shouldn’t be afraid of popping sounds (knuckle crackers won’t).

2. Massage
Spinal alignment is efficiently performed by reducing the tension in muscles. A decent massage therapist is able to relieve the tension and reduce the stress you get from constant sitting or standing. Achieving a neck or shoulders massage is also a perk. The massage therapist can also perform reflexology therapy, which includes stimulating certain points on your feet, which are related to your spine.

3. Physiotherapy
Specific stretching and strengthening exercises are the part of physiotherapy which demands your participation. These exercises are just crucial for a good posture. Physicians may perform electrotherapy when needed (ultrasound or electronic stimulation of the muscles). An Epsom salt bath is the best part. It absolutely dissolves the stress, pain, and tension after exercising and a generally tough day.

The last resort is, of course, surgery; nevertheless, don’t be afraid of taking such actions because the positive aftermaths overwhelm any possible complications.
